Why does my dashboard say there are no Wired Clients when I have a number of devices connected?

My dashboard 200.8 indicates there are no wired clients connected.  However that is not true as I have 7 wired clients connected

How are these wired devices connected to the network? What is the AP model?

Hi Scott,

Just forget about ICX switch 7150 for a minute and only consider Unleashed network.

On Unleashed GUI under Clients,  you can see two types of client.

1- Client connected to APs wirelessly are called "Wireless Clients".
2- Client connected to APs on AP's eth ports are called "Wired Clients" (Please note that such wired client connected behind an AP will only show in Unleashed GUI, if APs port is configured for 802.1X authentication).


As per above, client connected behind AP's eth ports are Wired Client, not the client connected to ICX switch.

Thanks Syamantak - it is much more clearer now :).  One more question though - is there any way to manage the clients wired to the ICX?

Hi Scott,

ICX wired client related controls are not supported on Unleashed.

The following capabilities are supported:

• ICX switch registration and authentication
• Switch inventory (including model, firmware version, and last backup)
• Health and performance monitoring (status, traffic stats, errors, clients) with alarms
• Switch configuration file backup and restore
• Firmware upgrades

Please refer the admin guide from page number 235 to 249 for more information.

Run a IP scan if you are sure that wireless clients and 7150 is on same VLAN.

Hi Scott,

Active wired clients will only be displayed when 802.1X is enabled on the Ethernet port of the Access point and when clients are connected and authorized over it.

Are you doing Port-Based 802.1X authentication for the wired clients. To check for Port-Based authentication please check the below user guide
