So I'm faced with renewing my support contracts and it appears to be a pain once again. I know some of this in the past has been me ( Trying to co-term all of my agreements into the same start and stop date) but can anyone confirm how to properly license a pair of ZoneDirectors for Smart Redundancy.

Scenario 1: 2 ZD 3050's in Smart Redundancy mode

Scenario 2: 2 ZD's 3050 in Smart Redundancy mode + 3 additional 50 AP licenses (Purchased for both controllers)

The way I've understood it:
Scenario 1:
-Controller A
-Premium Support
-Controller B
-Software Support

Scenario 2:
-Controller A
-Premium Support
-Premium Support 50 Pack x 3
-Controller B
-Software Support
-Software Support 50 Pack x 3

It doesn't make since about the software only but I've been assured it covers both the software and hardware of Controller B because you have a Controller A under contract.

Also, I don't know if this is still an issue, but to do a Co-Term seemed like pulling teeth. Has this been fixed or is it still going to be difficult? The reason I ask is I can just time the license cost for around that co-term period expiration.

With our new WatchDog program, you'll probably come out way ahead.

Controller A -
821-3050-1000 End User WatchDog Support Renewal for ZoneDirector 3050
821-3150-1L00 End User WatchDog Support Renewal for ZoneDirector 3000 150 AP License Upgrade

Controller B -
823-3000-1RDY WatchDog ZD3000 series Redundant Controller Support Renewal, 1 Year. Includes Support & license upgrades to bring redundant ZD to the same level as the primary ZD.

That latter will save you quite a bit in your configuration (it is also an advance-replacement HW contract). Basically it joins your controllers on our backend so any AP license for the primary is automatically replicated while the controller is under contract. And it's priced about the same as a hardware replacement contract alone.

The co-term renewal is pretty straightforward as well as we now have a dedicated team for renewal quotes. Your VAR can set all this up.

Hope this helps!

Keith,

Thank-you. I see you have made some changes and I appreciate that.

Follow-up:

Are you answering as Scenario B?
Does the 821-3150-1L00 SKU denote a 150 AP license or is it a variable (This would mean that the first and second license would cover you up to 200 AP's)?

Scenario 2 - 821-3150-1L00 is a 150AP support SKU. So the base 3050 plus this have you covered for 200AP's

HTH!
