Hello. I ask here on behalf. A large building was equipped with several ZoneFlex 7372 just a few years ago. Now another floor is to be equipped with it (perhaps 3-5 transmitters) and integrated into the system. Now I have noticed that the ZoneFlex 7372 is no longer available. My question is, is there a successor to the ZoneFlex 7372? With which one can extend the existing plant? I would be very happy about a tip. (I am from Germany and I have used a translator for this text)

Hi M Z,

The Ruckus R510 is the successor to the ZF7372 access point.  https://www.ruckuswireless.com/products/access-points/ruckus-indoor/ruckus-r510

The R510 is a similar specification device (2x2:2).  However it will provide increased performance (depending on clients) as it is uses the newer 802.11ac W2 Wi-Fi standard and benefits from being approximately 4 years newer.

One consideration you need to make, is if you are using a Ruckus WLAN controller (most likely a ZoneDirector), you will need to ensure that the software version is able to work with both the existing ZF7372 and the new R510 APs.  The earliest ZoneDirector version to support R510 is 9.13.  This release also supports ZF7372.

I hope that helps!

I have 2 more questions please:
- Where can I get this software update? And what does this software cost approx?
- Would it also work with a ZoneFlex R600?

Much Thanks in advance.

Hi M Z,

You will need an active support license to get access to software updates at: https://support.ruckuswireless.com/

If you need to purchase a support license, then please contact your preferred Ruckus partner: https://www.ruckuswireless.com/partners/finder

The R600 was released after the ZF7363 and before the R510, so will be supported in any revision of controller software that supports both the older and newer devices.

Thanks,
Darrel.

Thanks again for the helpful information. In the meantime, I have contacted the company that installed and set up this WLAN System bevore some years. I said we would like to add some new R510 to the system and an update of the software for the ZoneDirector. (So that the R510 also works on it) Now the company has me and said that only one R600 is still possible for our system. Because you can update our ZoneDirector only up to software version 9.10.2.0.76. Higher versions are not offered by the manufacturer, we were told. Maybe someone has information, if that's really true? Thank you again in advance. Here are some more data from our ZoneDirector:

Version: 9.8.2.0 build 15
Modell: ZD 1106
Systemname: ZD 1125
Accesspoints: 25

Hi M Z,

Your supplier is correct.  The ZD1100 platform is now End of Sale (EOS) and software support finished at 9.10.x

Unfortunately this software only supports APs that are also now EOS, such as R500, R600 and R700.  A list of compatible APs are detailed in the software release notes here:  https://support.ruckuswireless.com/documents/2755-zonedirector-9-10-2-mr2-refresh6-release-notes

If you wish to add a current AP, such as the R510 to your network, I would recommend upgrading your controller to a current model, such as a ZoneDirector 1200 or SmartZone 100.

ZoneDirector 1200: https://www.ruckuswireless.com/products/system-management-control/zonedirector-controllers/zonedirec...

SmartZone 100: https://www.ruckuswireless.com/products/system-management-control/smartzone/smartzone-100

I hope that helps,
Darrel.
