I am running Cacti for monitoring our network, and would like to monitor the Zone Director as well. What I'm running into is that there are no Cacti templates out there and I'm not comfortable building my own. Has anybody built a Cacti template that monitors the ZD or APs?

Ruckus can provide the ZoneFlex MIBs, but cannot help with any 3rd party products.
Contact your SE or VAR to submit a feature request on your behalf, as they are the
only ones who can interface with the product marketing managers, who make the
decisions to support products like Cacti, Orion, etc.

I have already expressed my disappointment in the reporting tool to my VAR. The reason I'm looking at Cacti is so I can have reporting beyond 24-hours. Hopefully someone in the Cacti community can help develop the config files.

There's a "suite" of off-box tools here:
https://github.com/bot779?tab=reposit...
(bandperclient, getruckus, zdroamers and ruckusconf)
None of them do what Cacti does but if you're willing to set up your own syslog server and configure it to rotate/maintain logs, it may help.

John, we also have a tool called FlexMaster which I believe goes to 30-days history. It sounds like you don't already have Cacti as an incumbent NMS, and FlexMaster can provide services that go beyond what SNMP can provide. If you have a small network, there's a 10-device "demo" version available on our website (the VM has FlexMaster pre-installed on Centos)

Sorry, but if I spend the money on FlexMaster I would expect more data logging than 30 days. Hopefully I can work through the Cacti solution.

I recently ran into an issue just like this. I ran a BYOD test and the best I could do was run SNMP gets every 30 seconds to collect what turned out to be almost useless data.
Reporting on ZD3000 would be nice. I've never understood why its not there to begin with.

Solarwinds NPM i built up a set of custom SNMP pollers. My issue with all of it is I would rather be able to pull a report even a simple one from the ZD rather than have to use a 3rd party app to pull data from the ZD and generate a report that way.

We made some significant enhancements to SNMP data post the 9.5 release so if you were using earlier versions I'd recommend trying 9.5.1 or higher.
Anyone willing to post config files/pollers/widgets from other platforms, I think that would be very helpful for other customers.

Here are some of the OID's i Poll. Would still be really nice to get an executive level report off of the ZD though!

We are using Cacti to monitor our APs and ZD.. it has been really helpful for us..
If you want we can share with you our Cacti templates :)
Here is some graphs screenshots..
ps: the only little problem is that sometimes the ZD stop anwser to SNMP requests, like on the graph above it's shown a gap between 18:00 and 00:00.

Guys, I believe it's better if you could just download the templates on this link: http://siaiota02.univali.br/odilo/cac...
Let me know if you are able to download them. I will let the link online for some days..
---
How to:
Try to import the files to Cacti on the “Import templates” option, Console tab -> Import/Export.
I don’t know why but when I was exporting the Host template of Ruckus ZD 3000 I got an error on Cacti and was not able to export. But it is easy to create one after you import the files attached.
At the Console tab, click on Host Templates option and add a new one:
- Set a useful name for the host template.
- Associate 2 graphs to it:
Ruckus ZD 3000 – Clients
Ruckus ZD 3000 – CPU
- Associate one data query type:
SNMP - Interface Statistics
It will look like the image bellow:
After that you need just to add your devices and create/customize your graphs.
Just another thing, I opened a case with Ruckus support for help with Cacti templates, MIBs etc., and after a while I gave up and just did my way..
I was not able to collect data using SNMPv3 :( still don't know why and I didn't had much time to try it again as we needed the information at the time.. so, I'm still using SNMPv2 to collect data :/ but it's graphing.. :) I'll work on that later..

Hello,
I've also constructed today cool monitoring using Cacti. Of course it is about to be modernized according to further needs, but it already satisfies what is missing in ZD interface: breakdown of traffic per SSID and historic number of users per SSID.
Both numbers can be important for customers.
Most important is the XML itself - I pool for OIDS:
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.1
OID/REGEXP:^.{36}(.*)$
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.1
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.2
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.4
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.3
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.7
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.8
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.9
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.12
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.16
1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.1.1.1.14
This gives information about all SSID (indexed structure) and the data can be plot into a graph like this:
Information about the name, ssid, authorization, encryption, VLAN, RX/TX limits and description are directly from ZD for each SSID. Cacti is automated to deploy graphs when there is new SSID created.
All fine since 1 hour :-)

I've got the basic stuff from Odilo imported and it's working great. I'd love to add the per-SSID user counts you mention here, but I'm VERY new to Cacti and I'm not having luck deciphering how to accomplish what you've shown here. I think I understand the need to create a new Query XML but haven't figured out how to accomplish that. Any chance you could share your templates or provide some explanation on how to create them?

Hello guys,
I'm looking at doing this same thing through MRTG. However, I can't figure out how to enable SNMP v2 on my AP's that are controlled by a Zone Director.
Anyone able to give me a quick idea of where to set this?
Thanks!
jason

Hi all,
Is anyone using PRTG to monitor the AP's? We are trying to monitor the number of associated clients on every AP, which OID should we be using from the AD library?
Thanks,
Julius

PRTg - no, I don't use this.
For OIDs, please look into the document "Ruckus WirelessTM ZoneFlexTM Access Point SNMP Reference Guide" and a MIB (you have to ask the support for it?)
https://support.ruckuswireless.com/do...
From the guide:
ruckusWLANStatsNumSta OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX Counter32
MAX-ACCESS read-only
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"Number of associated stations."
::= { ruckusWLANStatsEntry 3 }
regards.

Thanks J,
I gave it a try but all I am getting is "0" all the time even though the ZD reports 5 clients per device, might need to log a ticket with support.

Checking some old SNMP notes...
You should try this:
> [email protected]:ruckus# snmpwalk -On -c $COMMUNITYSTRING -v2c -Pe -m "" $CONTROLLER-IP .1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.2.2.1.1.2.1.1.15

Did that give you what you want?

John,
I don't see your note about 9.8.1.0 here, but saw it in the email notification. I can confirm that I upgraded an existing system to that version and the ZD related SNMP continued to work just fine. HOWEVER, I noticed I'm not able to get info from the APs any longer. I have no idea if that was related to the upgrade or not. Haven't had time to investigate.
