Hi Ghasem,

Thanks for contacting Ruckus. You can alternatively upgrade the AP from CLI using TFTP/FTP server.

Below is the KB article URL to refer.

https://support.ruckuswireless.com/articles/000001551

Please let us know if you have any issues with the upgrading.

Hi Ghasem,

Thanks for the response. Please make sure your windows firewall is turned off and also the software image file is in the TFTP/FTP Root directory.

I am seeing some issues with the command as well and also making sure the software image file name is correct. For an example (upgrade via TFTP)

fw set host 10.10.10.10
fw set proto tftp
fw set port 69
fw set control R610_104.1.0.0.298.bl7
fw update
reboot

Please let us know if there are any issues.

@ghasem_ashjaei

Sorry if I missed this, any idea why there is a "c:\file\1.bl7" added at every command which you are entering on the CLI?

The format should be like below:

fw set host 10.10.10.10
fw set proto tftp
fw set port 69
fw set control <firmware file name>
fw update
reboot

Not as

ruckus(ap-mode)# fw set control  10.10.10.111 c:\file\R510.bl7

ruckus(ap-mode)# fw set proto tftp 10.10.10.111 c:\file\R510.bl7

ruckus(ap-mode)# fw set port 69 10.10.10.111 c:\file\R510.bl7

ruckus(ap-mode)# fw set control  10.10.10.111 c:\file\R510.bl7

ruckus(ap-mode)# fw update

Note:

If the firmware file name is "R510.bl7, make sure you have this file copied on the root\shared folder of the TFTP server.

Sanjay Kumar

Hello and thank you for your note.

As I mentioned before when I did like your command I face with this issue, while I checked everything ( FTP permission, turn off firewall and access write@& read and....  )

after putting the first command I face with this msg:

I don't know whats wrong with this. :(

ruckus(ap-mode)# fw set host 10.10.10.111
/bin/sh: can't create /etc/airespider-images/upgraded.fromver: Read-only file system
OK
ruckus(ap-mode)#

Hi @ghasem_ashjaei ,

Try to upgrade from controller prompt and not ap-mode, see how it goes.

Using TFTP

ruckus> en
ruckus#
ruckus# debug

ruckus(debug)# fw_upgrade -p tftp  -s 192.168.2.1  -n AP_firmware_filename.img

Using FTP

ruckus(debug)# fw_upgrade -p ftp -s username:password@192.168.2.1 -n AP_firmware_filename.img

Hi Ghasem,

R510 AP is compatible with the above version ( 6.0.0.0.1331) and any Standalone version of R510 is compatible.

If the commands are still not working, I would request you to please create a case with us and one of our Engineers will help you to upgrade the AP to a standalone version, and connect the AP to the controller.
