<body>I'm looking to bring our site-to-site connectivity in house (vs paying for leased lines). Wireless would be the perfect option for 3 of our sites that have line of site and are half a mile in distance or less. The question now is whether to use point-to-point or mesh radios. I would prefer mesh since it wouldn't require 3 individual point to point radios on the roof of our headquarters, but I'm not sure if a mesh radio will give us enough reliability and speed at that distance (I would be happy with 75Mb and up).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.</body>

<body>My Usiwireless (City of Minneapolis) MM2211 configuration shows my modem as a MM2211-DZ (Dual Zone capable device). However, the configuration is downloaded by Usiwireless and there is no way (that I know) to change the Dual Zone configuration from FALSE to TRUE.

If you found out how to successfully accomplish that change and use the Usiwireless MM2211 as a Dual Zone operational device...please, let me know and thank you in advance.

<body>I get complaints about the mounting too...
In one case I had to reposition the APs above the tiles.
What about a collar that is ventilated to cover the large gap ? As I assume that ventilation is the issue</body>

    <body>Hello Dom,

We have only tested the 7731 in Line of Sight (LoS) conditions. It may be be possible to deploy them in near-LoS if you have a large building that you can reflect the RF signal off. It doesn't sound like this is the case in your deployment...

The distance of 130M would be well within scope of giving you 180+mbps of aggregate UDP throughput, but as rule of thumb each 1M of dense foliage has an attenuation value of -10dbm. Therefore if there are even only 2 or 3 mature between the 7731s I would think the chance of getting a connection/signal through them as low.

Is it not possible to try and go under the leaf canopy (above 2M of the ground though) or over it?</body>

<body>Hi, I was hoping someone would tell me the requirements of line of sight between a pair of 7731s.

For example infrared needs totally unimpeded LoS so how does the Ruckus 7731 wireless connection deal with obstacles? Do the 7731s work on this same principle, if you can't see the other unit you won't get a connection?

The scenario faced is two buildings 130 meters apart and the ground between them is littered with trees. Although LoS could possibly be achieved in the winter months, during the summer the foliage would definitely obstruct the path.

If the pair will connect what sort of data rate drop is expected, or asked another way, what sort of rate is likely to be achieved given this environment?

Thanks for any help.</body>

<body>We too have a large number of devices that mistakenly got added to flexmaster instead of the ZD that was managing them. This consumed a number of licences ($$$) and the only way to remove them was to mark them inventory status RMA. This is a very big PITA cause you have to do each one manually !
We need a way to delete, some of us don't care about 'tracking purposes' if there were added for testing or other purpose. All this does is force us to use cumbersome RMA inventory status or eat up expensive licence seats.
Ruckus please fix this !</body>

For the online upgrade to work the AP needs to have access to the internet and must have a valid DNS configured so that it can resolve the Ruckus FTP server fwupdate1.ruckuswireless.com. This can be tested by pinging the url from Administer::Diagnostics page. The update servers provide upgrades for hundreds of thousands of devices, so it may be congested, please try to upgrade several times.

Even when only 1 or 2 devices are connected they never connect at N - is there anything I can check to see if its the ZD or the clients not setup correctly?</body>

<body>Fluorescent Lights produce wide spectrum RF interference (across many frequencies). Noisy/defective florescent lamps can particularly generate interference. This interference can diminish the ability of a WiFi system from recognizing actual data, particularly at the higher data rates, forcing the radios to lower the data rates to more robust modulation techniques, lowering the throughput of the network.

The key is to install WiFi equipment as far as possible from fluorescent light fixtures to minimize the effects. A few feet can make a big difference.</body>

<body>Does anyone know if you have to use any specific APs if there is florescent lighting used in a clients business either in inside or outside areas where the RUCKUS AP will be mounted. Will the throughput be slower due to this "new" high capacity lighting?
Please Advise - thank you

    <body>Hola,

Gracias

    <body>Ol&#225;!

<body>I thought Zero-IT Activation was only possible through an ethernet cable but I've just read it can also be done over the guest WLAN?

If this is possible could there be a tick box added to disallow Zero-IT provisioning via the guest WLAN please.

Thanks.</body>

<body>The 2942 needs to have access to the Internet and have a valid DNS server configured so that the 2942 can resolve the Ruckus FTP url. You can verfiy this by pinging the URL from Administer::Diagnostics

The update server gets very congested, so you may need to try to upgrade the unit several times.

The password is set when you factory default the unit. If you have changed the password you can reset it to factory defualts to restore it.
