Can the 2925 be used as a stand alone device or do I need to use it together with a ZoneDirector?

mayhem, the 2925 can be used stand alone and in combination with the ZoneDirector. Be aware the 2925 is a wireless bridge, not a router, so it does not provide DHCP services. It was initially designed to work in a HotSpot environment, providing wireless access through 4 SSIDs to a wired network, separating the wireless user traffic from each other through multiple (tagged) VLANs. If a 3rd party wired device is assigning IP addresses to wireless users, then it can be used in stand alone mode. After it boots up, it will periodically try to find a ZoneDirector on its own subnet. If it does not find one, it will continue to work in stand alone mode.

Thanks for the reply.
So if I wire a number of 2925’s to a router running a DHCP server which in turn is connected to a DSL modem this should work?
Also do the 2925’s have a splash page/captive portal option?

Yes, that setup should work. In standalone mode I recommend assigning static IP addresses to the 2925’s to be able to easily connect to their management interface. The wireless clients can use DHCP.

The 2925 in standalone mode does not have a captive portal. This functionality is only provided if the 2925 is managed by the ZoneDirector. In this scenario the ZoneDirector manages the HTTP redirects and handles the authentication, either against the local user database or against an external Radius server or Active Directory. Thanks that clears things up.
Is it also possible to use the 2915 with the Zonedirector and a captive portal but without a login?
Maybe just a click-through button on the portal?
Is there somewhere that I can have a look at the Zonemanager interface?

Yes that is possible. We can do Guest Access with and without Authentication, with and without a Terms of Use page, redirecting the user to a certain webpage or letting them access their home page by default.

The ZoneDirector User Manual on http://support.ruckuswireless.com/documents/for… contains screenshots of most of the configuration options.

My apologies we didn’t get back to you. To investigate why this happened we need your name and/or email address. If you don’t want to share this on the forum then use the “Chat/Leave a Message” link on our main page (http://www.ruckuswireless.com/).

To find a local reseller in Ireland, please use the information on this link http://www.ruckuswireless.com/where_to_buy/emea/. Again, as I don’t have your contact details, I was not able to start the conversation from our end.
