2211 Vista Compatable??? replied by rvanzijl @ Mon, 05 Jan 2009 13:22:12 -0000

graeagle11, as Vista is supposed to be more secure this issue must be caused by a security setting on Vista or the browser on your Vista machine. Compare IE options between the XP and the Vista machine. Install a different browser (eg Firefox) and see if that makes any difference.

Difference between ZD Software? replied by rvanzijl @ Mon, 05 Jan 2009 13:16:28 -0000

allenm, it is difficult to capture the differences between major firmware releases in just one line, so I will simplify things. If you are a Big Dog Partner you can log in on http://partners.ruckuswireless.com (left hand column Partners Area) and download the What’s New PDFs under Products > ZoneDirector.

3.0 includes ZD support for all ZF APs including the 11n AP.
6.0 introduces L2 Mesh (ZD and APs all on the same subnet)
7.0 introduces L3 Mesh (ZD and APs can be on different subnets) and is the first release to support the ZD3000

Mesh can be enabled with 6.0/7.0, but does not have to be enabled, so you can run the ZD/APs in wired-only mode. It is difficult to make a code recommendation to you as I don’t know which of the new features you will be using in your deployment. 6.x/7.x is the most recent version including latest bug fixes, but there are also many installations out there running 3.x code. Be aware 6.x/7.x requires a valid support contract to be able to download it from our support website.

My Aps are trying to get to one of my Domain servers on port 32781 every 30secs or so. They are in a seperate subnet to the domain.
Server is AD and secondary dns and is also the configured radius server which the zonedirector checks against.Radius is working ok but this traffic is from the access points anyway.
Do I need to open my firewall, what is it please?

2211 wpa-psk problems replied by stu23 @ Tue, 14 Oct 2008 03:38:25 -0000

This problem occurs when remote configuring a 2211 (s/w 3.5.0/1675). When I set the WPA-PSK PassPhrase it seems to take correctly, but the unit will NOT connect to the AP (Altaitechnolgies A8)

My associate logs in to the same unit and sets the PassPhrase and it does work!!!

However the <configuration> WAN- Station’s Security (WPA-PSK) screen that he sees is different than what I see.

On my browser I see only a window to enter and confirm the PassPhrase. On his browser he sees the same window, but above it is a window for selecting Authentication (WPA, WPA2, Auto) and Cipher (TKIP, AES, Auto) I do not see that window.

He selects Auto for both Authentication and Cipher. I of course can’t make that selection.

As to the Browsers, he is using Firefox 3 and so am I. I have also tried IE and Safari. I have screen shots for what we both see if this would help.

Any ideas what is going on?

Problem with RUCKUS 2821/2121 replied by franco @ Thu, 09 Oct 2008 13:21:36 -0000

Dears,
I have an internet connection with Adsl Belgacom with a router/modem. I just bought a ruckus wireless system for my BelgacomTV decoder.
My Ruckus 2821 is connected via an ethernet cable to the modem in one side and on the other side to the 2121 which is connected to decoder belgacomTV but only the two rear lights are ok; the other two are blinking.
My BGCTV connection is good using a cable but not when using the ruckus wireless.
What does it happen?
Thanks for your reply

Problem is with ZD1006 and ZD 1012. Running versions 3.0.4.0 – 140 and 143

We are in a corporate environment that generally does not use Vista. With the spread of WiFi we are seeing a number of home computers entering and some are running Vista. Since these machines are privately owned there is some reluctance to have staff update drives, tweak registry, etc.

I will check to see if Vista client machines that cannot connect have all patches and service packs before I respond.

Novell & Ruckus Login Issue replied by Zoran @ Thu, 28 Aug 2008 23:04:59 -0000

Thanks BigDog for quick reply.
I’ve changed the AP’s with our local IP addresses (10.14.xx.xx), but still can’t log in to our server, while Internet works just fine.
The strange think is when I connect to Netgear AP and Linksys, the laptop logs onto Novell server just fine.

It just drives me crazy…

Regards
Zoran

X942 Operation at LOW Temps? replied by PCApps @ Thu, 28 Aug 2008 12:05:18 -0000

We have an application that requires mounting 7942 devices outdoors in Minnesota USA. Winter temps are consistently below 32 deg F or 0 deg C and can fall as low as -30 deg F.
The environmental specs for the X942-OT devices says op temp range is 0 to 50 deg C.

Has anybody had any experience outside of this range…particularly below this range?

Thanx,

Novell & Ruckus Login Issue replied by rvanzijl @ Thu, 28 Aug 2008 06:22:01 -0000

Zoran, the ZoneDirector and the Access Points need to be on the same IP subnet. It is currently not allowed to have the ZD on 10.14.×.x and the APs on 192.168.0.xx.

If your Novell server uses IP then there is no apparent reason why the wireless clients cannot find the tree, unless the wireless laptops go through some start-up script which assumes a (wired) connection to the Novell server which is not there yet as the OS is still loading the driver onto the WNIC and/or has not yet enabled the WNIC while the login script is running.
