Using 2211 as NIC on home net

With the demise of Metro-fi in Portland, I would like to use the 2211 to access my 802.11b home network Access Point. I have reached the point where I am passing packets to the radio. All lights are green. The thumb is pointing up. I can not, however make a logical connection to anything other than the admin screens for the MM2211. The 2211 worked fine using Metro-fi. The same computer can make connections to my AP as well as my neighbors un-protected one using a standard wireless card. The 2211 gets the same failure whether I try accessing my WEP protected AP or my neighbor’s open one. Is this something I should be able to do? Is there a “ccokbook” that can help me implement this application? Once I get network connectivity, can I upgrade the firmware to DZ and use this as a wireless repeater? I think I wiped out the DZ upgrade when I restored the unit to factory settings. I seem to recall that I had a slightly different admin interface when I started. I have a log file if someone would like to look at it. Thanks! Thunderbeast Update 7/12 I have connected to the world using a different computer that has no domain settings in place. I was able to connect to a neighbor’s wireless AP (according to a tracert command it is served by Comcast). This allowed me to update the firmware to DZ. I still can not ping my router when going through my own WEP encrypted AP. Thunderbeast |
