application apparently blocked

“ROES” is a Java application used by photo printing services. The client program submits orders for prints, along with the image files. Now that I’ve switched to the USIW service in Minneapolis, ROES can’t upload. I believe ROES uses FTP, but there must be something else going on. I assume it’s a firewall issue but the Ruckus internal firewall configuration doesn’t tell me anything (no log file etc). Is there any way I can find out what port needs to be enabled? |

Hi jimh, According to the FAQ found here (<http://www.softworkssystems.com/ClientFAQ.htm>), ROES client uses FTP protocol, and since 2211s do not block FTP traffic, you do not have to unblock (set up port forwarding) any port on your 2211. Have you talked to USIW support? Kind Regards, Ruckus Support |

I did get a response from USIW but it was rather vague. I simply asked about the blocking of FTP. The reply was “t is possible to enable port forwarding through the Ruckus interface, however we can’t support it because we use FTP for updating the firmware of the Ruckus.” But, obviously they don’t simply block FTP, period. Plain old FTP still works on port 21 – I can use AceFTP to update my web sites, while on USIW. I’ve emailed Softworks but so far no reply. |
