I received the Metroflex DZ 2211 ( v. 3.5.0.1613) yesterday & have now spent about 10 hours trying to set it up – I bought it to bring in a better signal from the WI-FI which I share was a neighbor.
I’ve worked through all the menu functions, played with the DZ function, set up a LAN (which I could see on both my Mac & PC but still the same problem), etc., in a nutshell my computers (MAC Powerbook G4) will not recognize anything but the ruckus setup menus, (tried it with Firefox & Safari). I’ve been through dozens of different trials, reboots, resets, etc. (yes, all the led lites on the unite are on).
I get a good quality wifi signal on the first menu screen, although it usually says it’s disconnected, although it’s said connected a few times. How do I get past the initial set up menus?? – which it seems to default to becuase it cannot get a internet connection. Shouldn’t it just pop up and be ready to web surf from there? (I’ve used Ethernet connections in hotels which just pop up on my Mac) I’ve tried to go through other open wi-fi signals in my neighborhood, and the local metro-fi – still no luck – still says on the first menu screen “disconnected” (but I see all the green bars are lit up) and I’m stuck with the Ruckus set up screens—if if I tried to load up another web address, still the Ruckus menus.

I’ve read every pamplet, pdf file, etc on the web have learned more than I ever thought I’d care too about bridges and routers, etc … but no solution. I’ve also read the other forum post, and realize that most of these users are pretty high end with their terminology, but an average guy who still knows a thing or two about computers shouldn’t have this much trouble – and nobody else seems to be stuck in this no-mans land of setup screens.
Any help?

I can see how this would be a pretty cool device if it actually worked—but should it be this hard???? ready to throw it in the closet or send it back….

For more information and to follow this odyssey: I’ve created a blog to explain this problem further:

UPDATE (the next day)

After moving the little bugger to the front of the house, did manage to get onto an open AP in the neighborhood. So I worked onto getting on the system I shared with my neighbor. After awhile, I managed to get all the right answers when I logged onto the Ruckus:

Connection Status: Authenticated – True
Associated – True
Authorized – True
Valid IP Address – True

I’m getting a great signal, but again, no internet connection. (My above blog will go into this further).

25 Hours and Counting…..

Hi gbfowler,

Could you email your phone number to support@ruckuswireless.com? One possible cause of your problem given your 2211 is authenticated, associated, authorized, and got a valid IP address is duplicate IP address somewhere. Who is your wireless service provider?

Kind Regards,

Ruckus Support
