I have a 2211-DZ.

Want to connect to USI Wireless’ secure network in Minneapolis. It joins, authenticates and authorizes, but it won’t pick up an IP address. It uses 802.1x encryption and auths with MSCHAPV2. SNR varies from 22 to 30+.

Any clues for me?

ceverett, with this level of SNR I do not expect any connectivity issues. Looks like the Ruckus device is somehow misconfigured. Ruckus does not control the way US Internet provides their service to you, so you really have to discuss this issue with USI. I’ve had a look at that faq in particular, and many others at the USI Wireless site. I also had a friendly chat with their tech support people. It boiled down to “we won’t support Ruckus modems that didn’t come from us.” Probably their supervisor …

Before that, the helpful tech support guy said he could see his equipment see the incoming connection from my modem, saw the username/password authenticate, saw the authorization happen, and the system tsending out an IP address, and my modem fail to pick it up.

So I figure one of 2 things is the case:

1. USI wireless is doing non-standard things to keep non-USI hardware off their network
2. My modem should be picking up the IP, but it isn’t because of another issue.

The firmware my modem came with, build 1613, does not associate, authenticate or authorize, it fails completely. Build 1675 does associate, authenicate and authorize, but it fails to pick up an IP.

Is there another firmware release available to try, or a setting on my modem to try that might alleviate matters?

Never mind.

I tried one more time and it worked this time. Don’t ask me why.
