How to get S/N or link quality info from device? replied by Grant @ Sat, 02 Feb 2008 02:02:57 -0000

Thanks. That’s sort of what I figured. I did find SNR numbers
on the survey results page, but they’re a bit clumsy to update
also. After messing around with external antennas a bit, I now
have a consistent 30-31dB SNR for the AP that the MetroFlex is
associating with.

Even with 30-31dB SNR, I still only got 1.5M throughput, so I
sent an e-mail to my ISP’s support group and they admitted that
they have some sort of backend equipment bottleneck. :/

Grant, for non-Ruckus personnel there is only one way to access the Ruckus products and that is http/s ie Web browser. Any other type of access (Telnet, SSH) is designed to be used only by Ruckus Engineering, QA or Support. Commands may be added or deleted, formats may be changed without prior notice. I can log this as a Feature Request, so we may add a GUI menu option to view the neighbour list.

There is currently only one (rather ugly) solution to your question: connect to the 2211s GUI, select Configuration—> Smart Configuration, select the same mode the 2211 is operating in today (repeater, bridge or router), hit Next and you will see a neighbour list. At the bottom of the screen there is a button to Reload the List. Please do NOT hit Next in this screen, as this may change your configuration.

Ruckus Support

How to get S/N or link quality info from device? replied by Grant @ Mon, 28 Jan 2008 20:36:59 -0000

Hi,

Is there a way to get link quality or S/N ratio information
from a Ruckus 2211 Metroflex wireless router? I’m trying
optimize external antenna placement, and I’d really like to be
able to get some sort of information on link quality or S/N
ratio.

According to the Ruckus FAQ page, the 5-segment “air quality”
bar-graph on the devices web page is RSS, which is much less
useful than link quality or S/N ratio when trying to position
an antenna. The bar-graph is also too coarse and updates too
slowly to be of much use when aligning an antenna.

I was hoping I could ssh into the device and find some useful
S/N or link quality numbers but the username/password that
works for the web interface doesn’t work for ssh.
