Hello,

Is the MF2900 still supported or has it been end of lifed? I have not seen any firmware updates for it. I was hoping one was available that may address my laptop connectivity issues where I getting random disconnect/reconnects.

Thanks,

Hello prbear571,

The MF2900s are still supported. If your laptop disconnects/reconnects randomly, the problem is most likely caused by the power save mode configuration. Please try to set the power save mode such that your laptop will get into power save mode less of time. If it still doesn’t solve the problem, please send email with support text file, which you can get from Maintenance page and your set up to support@ruckuswireless.com.

Regards,

Based on my experience and notes from other AP providers there is a bug in the Intel Centrino Wireless system. If your laptop reports having an Intel wireless card, this could be for you. The bug relates to the Power Management system in the wireless card. If you connect to an AP using 802.11b everything will be fine. If you connect to an AP using 802.11g, then after a short time the radio will go to sleep, whether you are using it or not, and not wake back up until you tell it to disconnect and reconnect to the AP. I have witnessed this with the MF2900 as well as other brands of APs. Our solution is to tell the Intel card that it is not allowed to connect in G mode through the advanced tab of the network card’s properties.
