Hi there

I am getting very frustrated trying to set up these products

I have followed instructions on quick set up GUIDE and manual with little or no success. the quick set up guide saysobtain ip address automatically whereas manual says assign ip address??

I have tried restting and this sometimes(actually twice out of 100s of attempts)gives me brief access to web admin page but as soon as I try to set up wep security I lose connection

Connecting through windows wireless gives me limited connectivity message if i dont get asked for WEP key during connecting process

I get 2 solid greens on the vf2825(buttons1+2) button 3 is orange and button 4 is not lit up

when i connect the 2111 to the 2825(lan port on 2825) i get all 4 lights green on both devices and typing in 192.168.0.254 gives me admin page but again when i try click on any of the menu pages i get document contains no data page and lose the connection

i am connecting vf2825 wan port to my router modem and connecting an ethernet cable from the LAN port on my pc to the lan ports on the vf2825

pc LAN port is configured with fixed ip address 192.168.0.100

Serial number on vf2825 is VF40007624

i am using belkin n1 vision router/modem

Please advise on what to do

Hi beolight,

Which VF2825 model do you have? We have several models (VF2825, VF2825-0, VF2825-3) that operate in different mode. If you have VF2825, DHCP server function is enabled on the LAN ports and the Data WLAN, and you should configure your PC to obtain IP address automatically. If you have one of the other two 2825 models, you should provide a DHCP server whether it be your router modem or what not.

What kind of router modem do you have? Is it a cable modem? If it is, you may have to hard reset (factory reset) for it to recognize a newly attached device.

When you connect 2111 to 2825, 2111 connects to the Video WLAN of the 2825. The Video WLAN runs in bridge mode and you will have to have a DHCP server available for the PC Ethernect connected to 2111. If you want 2111 to connect to 2825’s Data WLAN, you can search our FAQ for the instruction.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

thanks for reply

i dont what version 2825 i have would serial number posted above not indicate this to you

I have managed to get it up and running and am able to connect to it wirelessly using iphone however a quick check on modem tells lots of other people are also connecting to it as network is unsecured and i need to access the web admn page to turn on security

i am using belkin n1 vision router/modem F5D8632_4

the user manual SAYS that your client PC needs to be in the range between 192.168.1.2/24 and 192.168.1.254/24.

the default ip address for belkin router/modem is 192.168.2.1 which i changed to 192.168.0.1 thinking this might solve the problem.

i think the problem is down to ip addresses and i probably need to assign static addresses but i dont know how to do this in the belkin router interface (it was easy to do in previous netgear router)

below is a cut and paste of ip config command from laptop connected wirelessly to vf2825/2111 which might give you better idea of whats going on

I checked the serial number and you have VF2825-3-UK. Where did you purchase this unit from?

The VF2825-3 runs in all bridge mode meaning there is no DHCP server functionality. You will have to rely on your belkin router to assign IP addresses to your wireless clients and it seems like the belkin is doing that fine.

Have you tried to ping 192.108.0.4 from your main PC? If you can successfully ping your 2825, start a browser, type the 192.108.0.4 to the URL window, and log in to your 2825 to configure Data WLAN. If you want to change the configuration of the Video WLAN, then use the super user login credential you can find from the User Guide.

If you can not ping 2825 (192.108.0.4), then disconnect your 2825 from the belkin router, configure your PC with 192.108.0.100 static IP address, Ethernet connect your PC to 2825 WAN port, start a browser on your PC, type 192.108.0.1 to the URL window of the browswer, and log in.

Kind Regards,
