Can I turn this into a wireless access point? I’m getting ready to configure a hardware firewall for this network, so i won’t be needing to use it as a router anymore.

Is it possible to back up a configuration file so I can instantly restore settings after I make lots of changes?

Since they don’t really have support here I’ll answer for future searchers. You can’t. I liked this router initially but it is not customizable at all—can’t use as an AP, can’t turn off wireless, can’t control other devices. Most of these features are standard on every router now. I would be unlikely to purchase another. Too bad, because if you just want simple functions it seems to do them very well.

Hi LeLouch,

I believe Ruckus support engineer replied to your email. Did you not get the answer you were looking for? The User Guide for VF2825 does explain various configuration options as well as the username and the password that give you the privilege to do so.

The VF2825 is designed and optimized for the IPTV application. As such, it has a lot more features and superior wireless coverage than other consumer grade wireless access points. I would like to suggest that you download the VF2825 User Guide and explore these features.

You can download the User Guide here: http://support.ruckuswireless.com/documents/30

Kind Regards,

Ruckus Support

PMFJI, but I did not find the solution to this problem in the User Guide. (and I did look!)

But I did pose the question in a chat session and got the information I needed.

The bottom lines are, it can be done and Ruckus Wireless support is quite capable of helping you to do it.

Rather than repeat it here, I suggest you have a look under the General Topics (How I did it) and look for my post of today’s date outlining what Ruckus told me and how it worked wonderfully for me.

Good luck.
