I was told by a Ruckus reseller that I can mimic bridge mode on the 2825 by plugging the internet feed into one of the switch ports. The whole purpose was to create a transparent wireless bridge, using the 2211 and the 2825. I’d set the 2211 into bridge mode, have it receive it’s internet from a wifi signal, then dump that down the ethernet port of the 2211 to one of the switch ports on the 2825, which would then broadcast it’s signal. The end result would be getting NAT/DHCP from whatever feeds the 2211 wirelessly (is that a word?). I was told that this company does it all the time and it works very well. I haven’t been able to do it yet, but am probably missing something, as I’ve dealt with this company before and don’t think they’d make something up just for a sale. Any help would be great, I have a test setup here for questions and such. Thanks!

Jon,

Just making sure I understand your setup, so please confirm this is what you have:

Internet))) (((2211 [port1-4]2825))) (((clients

One of the problems you will have is that the wireless clients connected to the 2825 will receive an IP address from the built-in DHCP server on the 2825, so you will have to disable the DHCP server on the 2825. To be able to manage the 2825 you will have to manually set the 2825s LAN IP address/netmask/gateway.

I think it would be better to use the 2825 in Bridge mode. Open a browser to the 2825, use super/sp-admin. Go to the wireless configuration, disable the Data WLAN, change the Video WLAN to your likings (probably broadcast the SSID, as it is hidden by default). Now connect the 2211 to the WAN port of the 2825.

Some 2211 have an option called Dual Zone. See http://support.ruckuswireless.com/documents/for…. This will allow the 2211 to connect wirelessly to the Internet source and provide AP-type wireless access on the back end. This will remove the 2825 from your setup.

Can you provide more detail on the Ruckus reseller you’ve spoken to?
