I have a 2825 setup as a router, and 4×2211s as repeater in my client’s home.
Tried to do Leopard upgrade for him on his Macbooks.
Bad mistake.
Upgraded 2 Macbooks and both failed to connect to the 2825.
The configuration used is 64bit WEP.
(I had to use WEP due to some older devices in the network)

After some goggle-ing, i suspect it’s the Macbook’s airport card/software issue.
Since on the Macbook, the wireless works when use run Windows XP with bootcamp.

Posting this as a warning to any Mac users around.
Hopefully there’s a solution soon.

John, are you using the 2211s as repeaters or the 2111s? If 2111, are you using Auto Provisioning to copy the wireless configuration from the 2825 to the 2111, or were the 2111s manually configured? Are you connecting the wireless repeater to the Video SSID or to the Data SSID?

The reason I am asking all these questions is because I want to understand what is configured ‘automatically’ on the Ruckus devices and what has been configured manually. As you may know, using static WEP it is possible to chose key index 1, 2, 3 or 4. I’m trying to find out if the 2825 is configured to use WEP key index X and the Mac is configured to use WEP key index Y, which results in the Macs not being able to connect to the 2825.

On the 2825, log in using a browser and your default user/pass. Then select Configuration—> Wireless , select the appropriate tab at the top of the page (Video WLAN or Data WLAN) and write down the WEP Key value and the Key Index. Now access the Mac’s wireless configuration and compare the values with the ones configured on the 2825.

Thanks for the reply.
I using 2211s as repeater (That was the recommended setup according to Ruckus Product page)
The 2211s are all configured manually with the same settings.
Video SSID is turned off. Am only using the Data SSID.

Actually, on the Mac, there isn’t a interface to select WEP key index.
Before Leopard, it just works.
Just key in the WEP key, no other fancy settings.

John, I ran a quick Google myself and came across this: http://forums.macnn.com/92/networking/356982/10…

If that does not help (knowing that the Mac does not tell you which WEP key index it is using), I suggest to do a little trial&error and configure WEP key index 1 on the Ruckus and allow the Mac to connect. If that fails, configure WEP key index 2 on the Ruckus and allow the Mac to connect. Then index 3 and finally index 4.

Thanks again for the macnn link.
Tried all 4 keys and still no luck.
I’m planning to switch security to WPA.
Any issues using the 2825 as the router, and 2211s as repeaters with WPA security?

No, that’ll work fine.
