We would would love to see the Zone Director available as a Virtual Appliance that can be purchased (in addition to the ZD 1000 & 3000). For example, it can be listed on VMware’s site:

http://www.vmware.com/appliances

On some jobs we have certain servers that have tremendous power and redundancy (dual power supplies, mirror drives/ram, etc), and we’d love to make use of that power and cut out items in the rack.

Thank you for your consideration.

I concur. The ability to vMotion/LiveMigrate the appliance is very appealing as well.

Agreed. I’d like to have it available just for redundancy. I know Aerohive allows for a virtual controller.

I also would likely use a VM rather than a physical unit.

Would be very welcome.

Same. Even for use at our clients DR site in a colo (space is limited) support for VMware is needed.

I agree, this would be a great option.

Absolutely. Would love to be able to let my ZoneDirector sit in my vSphere environment and take advantage of all my HA features.

I’ve been asking for this for a long time. Hope it happens. It would be great for disaster recovery.

I know there is some hardware costs included (which are quickly mititgated at the higher tiers I’m sure) but even if the pricing didn’t change I would be happy to buy a virtual appliance.

Agree 100%. Cost being the same I would purchase virtual vs. physical.
